TOP 10 Rental car FAQ

Important: Rental car FAQ answer you briefly & simply the frequently asked questions e.g. on benefits, (payment) processes or the return of a rental vehicle.

Car rental advantages and disadvantages?

The advantages of a rental car, as opposed to leasing or buying, are the clear price advantages and the flexibility to change the rental vehicle. Furthermore, you save yourself the classic additional costs such as registration, MOT, MOT, vehicle tax, Gema fees or insurance costs.

Advantages

  • Individual terms
  • New models on an ongoing basis
  • No additional costs, except for petrol
  • Regular maintenance
  • Emergency and repair service
  • No personal loss of value
-> see also FAQ on advantages and disadvantages in our Info brochure.

Disadvantages

There are generally no (cost) disadvantages with rental cars. However, it is also clear that a rental vehicle must always be in top condition so that every customer feels comfortable in it. As a result, it is not comparable with a car you have bought yourself, where you can overlook minor scratches or signs of wear and tear, for example.

Availability and waiting time?

If you request a rental car from us, it will be freshly cleaned or checked and refueled. Furthermore, it can happen that a certain vehicle is rented for a short period of time (max. 4 weeks). As a result, the waiting time may take a few days or weeks. If an advertised rental car is rented for longer than two weeks, please refer to our website for the next available date or simply ask.

With a Long-term rental the advance booking period may take a few weeks if, for example, the vehicle is still in the possession of another renter or we have to obtain it from our partners. However, shorter waiting times are also possible if, for example, a vehicle is currently available. In this respect, we update our rental car offers on an ongoing basis and you can reserve or plan in good time.

In rare cases, you may receive an alternative rental car (of the same vehicle class + identical equipment) from us with information in advance.

What to do in the event of damage?

In the event of minor damage or petty damage (up to € 750, no injured persons or other parties involved in the accident) to the rental car, please inform us immediately via the customer service or emergency number. This will enable us to record and repair the damage and, if necessary, provide a replacement rental car.

In case of an accident (with / without the other party involved), it is always advisable to first secure the scene of the accident and inform the police immediately. You should then contact us so that we are informed as quickly as possible and can act accordingly. (with / without other party involved in the accident), it is always advisable to first secure the scene of the accident and inform the police immediately. Finally, a complete accident report or report is important. An accident report can also be found in the documents of your rental car and can also be found in our General Terms and Conditions.

Going abroad?

You can take your rental car abroad at any time for a short trip or vacation, if it is a EU country (including Turkey), as your insurance cover applies there. For other countries, please inform us in advance so that we can clarify everything necessary.

In this regard, you should also read our GTC (Point 2.2.):
...the payment of toll fees, punctures, breakdowns abroad as well as the payment of costs for offences committed with the rental vehicle. Regulatory offences are not part of the provision and not included in this scope of services.

Extend the rental period (spontaneously)?

Sometimes it is clever to extend the rental period spontaneously. In principle, this is possible with us, but it depends on factors such as the next renter or booking request. To ensure that there is always clarity, please inform us of such requests in good time in advance and we will see whether it works directly or whether we can provide you with an alternative vehicle, for example.

Returning and refueling?

The time of return at the my-carrent.de rental or pick-up station is regulated by contract. Sometimes our customers prefer to return their rental car in the evening to save time. In this case, please inform us in good time and it will be arranged.

A small, but often occurring FAQ is the (re)fueling before the return. The answer is simple: all our vehicles are basically cleaned & fully fueledbefore the handover at the rental station. As a result please bring us the vehicle in the same condition (fully fueled & clean) - Thank you!
